I sent a text to my optician to let her know that I would be coming by tomorrow and this was her reply "OK. BTW tom public holiday..." By the way, Public Holiday!? Apparently the Agong's (the supreme head of state) official coronation is to be held tomorrow and therefore it is a public holiday - nice.
This coronation special for two reasons, firstly Malaysia's new Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah has been installed for the second time as the Agong. Secondly, the coronation will held in the new Istana Negara (National Palace) an impressive building complex with a total of 22 domes.
The city has been buzzing with sirens and lots shiny black official looking cars. Yesterday I saw for the first time a car with this license plate - D.Y.M.M. Sultan Johor - very nice :-)
Forresten...Helligdag!?
