The joys of Mummy's food/Glæden ved Mor's mad

When we are back in KL we enjoy Mum's cooking. She is a great cook, who does traditional indian dishes as well as alot of her own creations. Every time we visit Malaysia we are presented with many of the old favorites and some new creations.

This year's creation is fried ginger-flavoured bread. The batter is made of rice flour and wheat flour with a some salt, sugar, water, baking powder and the juice from some fresh ginger. The saucer sized rounds of this batter are fried in hot oil. The resulting "bread" is totally delish! Kim discovered that the bread is great eaten with chicken curry.

But no pictures! Looking through my pictures I discovered that I have been too busy eating. I have not taken enough pictures of the food! I going to lunch tomorrow with a mission - document the food!

Når vi er tilbage i KL nyder vi Mor's hjemmelavet mad. Hun er rigtig god til at lave mad og hun laver både de traditional indiske retter og hendes egne retter. Hver gang vi er på ferie i Malaysia bliver vi præsenteret for mange af de gamle favoriter og nogle nye retter.

Årets ny ret er stegt ingefærbrød. Dejen er lavet af rismel, hvedemel, lidt salt, sugar, vand, bagepulver og saften fra frisk ingefær. Dejklatten på størrelse af en underkop koges i varm olie. Det friske brød smager utrolig godt. Kim opdagede at brødet smagte endnu bedre med en stærk indisk kylling karry.

Men ingen billeder! Da jeg kiggede igennem mine billeder opdagede jeg, at jeg har været meget travl med at spise. Jeg har ikke taget nok billeder af maden! I morgen tager jeg til frokost med en klar mission - tag billeder af maden!

We had rice cooked with tumeric, salt fish curry, curried pork, fried toufu (soyabean curd), fried bitter gourd and fresh mixed salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, green chilies and cilantro). Vi fik ris kogt med gurkemeje, saltede fish i stærk karry, svinekød stegt med karry pasta, stegt tofu (sojabønneost), stegt bitter melon og en frisk blandet salat (agurk, tomat, grøn chilli og corianderblad)
