The Antony Lionardo Thomassen Experience - one last trip to the Zoo/ Antony Lionardo Thomassen Oplevelsen - en sidste tur til Zoo

The Antony Lionardo Thomassen experience went on its last trip to Zoo Negara yesterday. The highlight of the day was the Reptile House with its reticulated pythons (python reticulatus).

According to the tramdriver, the elephants at Zoo Negara were caught in the jungles of  Pahang (a state in Peninsular Malaysia).  Furthermore the Zoo has bred many of the savanah animals especially the zebras and giraffes. In fact, they supply the other Malaysian zoos with these animals.
At the Reptile House we got to touch an eight month old reticulated python. Very Cool! The keeper also pointed out that their adult reticulated python was uncoiled because it was going to shed its skin. It takes the snake about halv an hour to shed all its skin. It starts by rubbing its snout on rocks to loosen the skin around the head. Then it continues rubbing its body againts the rocks until all of the skin is off.

ALT's closing remark "And how many times can we thank Zoo Negara..."

One of the three asian elephants (elephas maximus indicus) from the jungles of Malaysia.

The young reticulated python was a little nervous, so we had to touch it carefully.

The adult reticulated python uncoiled and ready to start shedding its skin.
